Orientation of objects
When working with object properties, the orientation needs to be considered. But which side is width, and in which direction does the side of the object
face??? X, Y and Z axis:
The pictures
on the right should show you the X, Y and Z axis. Picture one is
the 'Top view', two the 'South view' and three the 'East
view'. Width and Length:
If the object has not been rotated, and is viewed from above, the width and length conform to the usual conventions. Top
view

direction (textures):
If the object has not been rotated, the front face is the South facing side. The diagram is viewed from above.
If you look towards the north, the front side will be seen. Top
view
